Tomás Irish’s new book, Feeding the Mind: Humanitarianism and the Reconstruction of European Intellectual Life, 1919-1933, has just been published in paperback. The book explores how Europe was rebuilt after the First World War by looking at the work of humanitarian organisations and the difficult decisions that they made in deciding which populations ‘deserved’ assistance and explains their motivations. The book uses source material in three languages from over twenty archives in five different countries. Tomás teaches a final year module about the League of Nations at Swansea and some of the research for the book was undertaken at League of Nations archives in Geneva, Switzerland.
